Corona influencing on worker mobility
April 6, 2020

The employees who are not registered as an EU citizen in Finland at the Finnish Immigration Service, may not enter Finland unless the travel is considered necessary. In addition, persons entering Finland for the first time with the registration may not enter Finland either as of 31st of March.

A travel considered necessary concerns healthcare professionals and goods transport personnel among others as well as employees performing other vital duties. Border crossing may be permitted on a case-by-case basis at the border authorities’ discretion if the work in question is considered necessary for the security of supply or the functioning of the labour market.

Please note that the process of registration is currently slower.

You may contact us if you need to find out whether your project and the job in question is considered critical that would enable the employee to enter Finland for the first time or without above registration. We would in this case send a formal inquiry to the border authority to receive a confirmation, and if confirmed, assist you to prepare the documents necessary for travel.
